India Landing and Overflying Permit Requirements

All General Aviation or business aircrafts operating to/from India require landing permits, regardless of the type of flight from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The official permit lead time is given below:

India Landing Permit Lead Time

3 working days (with the flight intended for the 4th day) are required to obtain landing permission for flights, except those originating from PRC countries.

India Landing Permit Lead Time For Flights Originating From PRC Countries

Flights originating from Prior Reference Countries (PRC) such as China, North Korea, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, and Nigeria, necessitate 7 working days (with the flight intended for the 8th day) to secure landing permission.

India Landing Permit Lead Time (Technical Landing/Fuel Stop)

For technical landings or fuel stops, a lead time of 1 working day (with the flight intended for the 2nd day) is necessary, except for flights originating from PRC countries.

India Landing Permit Lead Time For Flights Originating From PRC Countries (Technical Landing/Fuel Stop)

For flights originating from Prior Reference Countries (PRC), including China, North Korea, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, and Nigeria, a lead time of 3 working days (with the flight intended for the 4th day) is required.

India Overflying Permit Lead Time

To obtain overflying permission, a lead time of 1 working day (with the flight intended for the 2nd day) is required, except for flights originating from PRC countries.

India Overflying Permit Lead Time For Flights Originating From PRC Countries

For flights originating from Prior Reference Countries (PRC), including China, North Korea, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, and Nigeria a lead time of 3 working days (with the flight intended for the 4th day) is needed to obtain overflying permission.

India Landing Permit Lead Time For Ambulance Flights

For medical, ambulance, or relief mission flights, the minimum notice period requirement may be waived. Such cases will be processed on the same day within a few hours, contingent upon the availability of required documents and the CAA official.

India Landing Permit Lead Time For Military Aircraft

Permit applications for all military and VVIP flights must be channel through the respective country's embassy/consulate using diplomatic channels. Additionally, approval from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is also required.

India Landing Permit Lead Time For Defense Airports

The lead time to obtain landing permits for military airports typically spans 15 to 20 business days.
