All General Aviation or business aircrafts operating to/from Nepal require landing permits / PPR, regardless of the type of flight from the CAA.
The official permit lead time is given below:
7 working days (with the flight intended for the 8th day) are required to obtain landing permission for flights. However, we can also obtain short notice permission subject to approval from CAA.
7 working days (with the flight intended for the 8th day) are required to obtain technical landing / fuel stop permission for flights. However, we can also obtain short notice permission subject to approval from CAA.
7 working days (with the flight intended for the 8th day) are required to obtain overfly permission for flights. However, we can also obtain short notice permission subject to approval from CAA.
For medical, ambulance, or relief mission flights, the minimum notice period requirement may be waived. Such cases will be processed on the same day within a few hours, contingent upon the availability of required documents and the CAA official.
Permit applications for all military and VVIP flights must be channel through the respective country's embassy/consulate using diplomatic channels. Additionally, approval from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is also required.
Irrespective of nature of flight (Landing / Tech Landing (crew rest) / Fuel Stop / Ambulance, Pilot-in-Command (PIC) must has Simulator Training certificate for arrival/departure applicable to VNKT/VNBW along with English proficiency certificate (if PIC non-native English speaker), Navigator is required to be on-board the aircraft if PIC does not have simulator training certificate or non-English speaker.
